1. Scotland the Brave (Bagpipes)
I have chosen this song because it represents where Tam Lin is from, and it would be constant reminder of his heritage, and where his life began. I think that this would also be a good reminder of his heritage. another reason he might listen to this song is because it might remind him of his family and his friends.
2. Red Flag- Billy Talent
I chose this song to represent Tam Lin's thought on how to live life. To be free to make your own decisions, and not to be forced to be somewhere. Tam Lin is an environmentalist, he cares for all things that are living, that is why i chose this song as well. This song speaks of allowing things to be free, and that this song might be a constant reminder of what he did, so that he would never forget what his wrong doings have been.
3. What It's Like- Everlast
I chose this song for Tam Lin's playlist because it talks about not knowing what it's like to be in someone else's shoes, and to be in the same predicament as they are. In the song it says, "God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes, Cause then you really might know what it's like to sing the blues". I think that that quote represents what Tam Lin thinks on lying and being disrespectful to people that might be feeling down.
4. Be Yourself- Audioslave
I am have chose this song to be in Tm Lin's playlist because in this song it talks about not trying to be someone else, and it talks about nothing going well if you do. It tells you about the good that comes from not changing, and being yourself. The song would also relate to Tam Lin when it talks about being alone, being separated, and being in pain because of your past.
Quentin-
1. Tam Lin- Fiddler's Green
This song would be a good representation of Tam Lin's scottish heritage. I think it would not only remind him of his home and the good times there, but it may also remind him of what he has done in his home country, and why he must stay in Opium.
2. You Wouldn't Know Me- Vexed
I think this song may work for Tam Lin because while he is working El Patron not many people would talk to him, no one would really know about him because they just assume he is a big body guard who isn't that smart, when there is a deeper side of Tam Lin. In the book on page 63 it says that Matt "saw a glint of friendliness," and he was obviously surprised by this, so this would just prove my point.
3. State Run Radio- Lupe Fiasco
I think this song would work very well for Tam Lin before he was working for El Patron, because this song is all about how the government controls almost everything, and before Tam Lin was working for El Patron he was a terrorist. He says in the book "I was a proper fool, I turned my back on my family, ran with a rough group, and did things the brought me here." This means that it was his choices that trapped him in Opium, and at the time he probably thought he was doing the right thing.
4. Hold On- Skepta (Koncept remix)
I chose this song because Tam Lin is walking with a huge burden on his shoulders from killing the 21 children. He says that the only reason he is staying on the farm is for moral consequence for the bad things that he has done in his past. This song would remind him that threw all the torture of staying there he must stay for his own sake. In the book he states that he is staying there for his own good saying, "I'm talking about moral consequence. I have spent years benefiting from the horrors of Opium," he says this on page 244.
5. Don't Let Me Fall- B.O.B
I believe this is a song Tam Lin would of listened to because of his guilt for killing the 21 people because he really hated him self for killing those people, that is why he is doing the moral consequence thing. He is just trying to be a better person and fix what he has done to those people. This song is all about someone going into a state of thought he can't get out of.
I really feel that the songs you chose really help explain who Tam Lin is a person. For example in don't let me fall by B.O.B you really know who Tam Lin is a person and you used facts to chose the song. Also the song state run radio really works perfectly for Tam Lin
